Hurricane Hint…

frozen water in freezerQuick hurricane survival hint that may save the food in your freezer and make sure you have water to drink.

Fill up your freezer with water. You can use bottled water, but you can fill plastic containers, zip close bags, and pitchers with tap water.

The day before the storm, fill up a cooler with the frozen water, along with sandwich stuff and cold food.

Move the rest of the frozen water to the refrigerator. Then fill the freezer back up with water to refreeze.

If you lose power, use the cooler the first couple of days without opening the refrigerator at all. (That’s important!)

Hopefully, by that time, the power will be back on, but if not, find someone in your neighborhood who has a gas stove and tell them you’ll give them the food if they’ll make the vegetable soup!
