The Leader In Me “Chair”ity Ball

The Leader in MeThe Leader in Me is a elementary school based program that introduces students to Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Effective People. The Leader in Me uses the 7 Habits to prepare students with college, career, and life-readiness skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century. Schools who are a part of The Leader in Me use the word “transform” a lot to describe what they see happening in their students, their parents, and their schools. Three schools in Alamance County – Newlin, Haw River, and Andrews – have begun implementing the program, and the ABSS hopes to see more schools follow suit.

I’m excited about The Leader in Me. I visited Andrews Elementary for an introduction, and was blown away at what I saw and heard. I was particularly impressed that my school tour was completely led by students!

Alamance County’s Women United chapter is a helping to fund and implement The Leader in Me in our local schools, and on Saturday, November 10, they are having a ball to help raise money for the effort. It’s actually called a “CHAIR”ity ball, because the evening will include a chance to vote for and then win one of three children’s Adironodack chairs painted by three local artists: Laine Francis, Meredith Parker, and William Gattis.

I’m going to be at the ball, which includes dinner and dancing, and I’d love to see you join me! It’s going to be held on November 10 from 7 – 10 at the Alamance Country Club. Tickets are available here.

PS If you’d like to vote for a chair, you can do so here! You don’t have to attend the ball to win.
